Aust stocks open mixed with gold up, media down =2 Sydney
Normandy is up 15 cents to $1.14, Lihir gained 14.6 to 99 cents, Newcrest has jumped
55 to $4.40. Sons of Gwalia has leapt 30 to $4.75.
Helping the gold price along was a weekend decision by Canada's Placer Dome to suspend
its hedging program and cut forward sales by two million ounces.
