WA:Driver to stand trial over scooter death

PERTH, April 1 AAP - A Perth driver accused over an incident in which a scooter rider
was killed will stand trial to fight the charges.

Miguel Hernan Vasquez, 23, appeared in the Perth Magistrates Court on Friday to face
charges of dangerous driving resulting in death, being a driver in an incident occasioning
death and failing to report an incident.

Police allege Vasquez drove his BMW sedan out of a service station on December 4 last
year and collided with Debbee McDavitt, aboard a scooter.

The 53-year-old woman was thrown onto a highway and struck by a second vehicle.

She died as a result of her injuries.

In court on Friday, Vasquez's legal team requested further materials from the prosecution.

His case has been committed to the District Court on June 24.
