Vic: One man guilty, another acquitted over revenge murder
MELBOURNE, April 24 AAP - A Victorian man has been found guilty and another acquitted
over the murder of a teenage boy who was lured to a carpark, then tortured and killed
in a revenge attack.
The Victorian Supreme Court today found Jamie Leslie Sumner, 29, of East Keilor, guilty
of the murder of Raymond George Allen, 16, who disappeared four years ago.
Mr Allen's body has never been found.
The Victorian Supreme Court jury today also found Shaun Jarrod Benporath, 26, of Mooroopna,
not guilty of the murder of Mr Allen.
Prosecutors had alleged Benporath and Sumner abducted and killed Mr Allen after Sumner's
younger brother claimed he had been sexually assaulted by the youth during a sleepover
in 2004.
Judge Geoffrey Nettle ordered Sumner to be held in custody for a pre-sentence hearing on May 9.
